News Update ~ The Cancer Is Back
21st April 2009
Today I was told that the cancer was back. I have secondary breast cancer in the bone. I know now that it is incurable but as always I am thinking positive and that my great team of Dr's and Nurses will be able to help control it with the fantastic treatments that they have.
One of my main priorities is to bring this website up to date. Obviously it is coming second place to my family and friends but if this Website helps just one person i will be happy as that is my goal. If you have a myspace, livespace, facebook profile or any other webiste
please link to this page to help Raise Breast Cancer Awareness.

In the UK, breast cancer is
the most common type of cancer among women.
Approximately 45,000 cases of breast cancer are diagnosed every year, usually in women who are over 50 years of age and who have reached menopause.
However, it is possible for women of any age to be affected by breast cancer and, in rare cases, the condition can also affect men.
One out of Eight women will develope breast cancer in their lifetime. The Survival rate for breast cancer is greater than 95% if detected early.

Self Examination
Breasts change at different times of your life and with your menstrual cycle, but by doing self-examination this will help you recognise any changes quickly.
Breast self examination should be done regularly.
Changes to be aware of:
-
size - if one breast becomes larger, or lower
-
nipples - if a nipple becomes inverted (pulled in) or changes position or shape
-
rashes - on or around the nipple
-
discharge - from one or both nipples
-
skin changes - puckering or dimpling
-
swelling - under the armpit or around the collarbone (where the lymph nodes are)
-
pain - continuous, in one part of the breast or armpit
-
lump or thickening - different to the rest of the breast tissue.
If you do notice a change in your breasts, try not to worry but see your GP as soon as you can.
Please remember: most breast changes are not cancer, even if they need follow up treatment or further investigation

Second Chemo Prt 5
(added 29th June 09)
Fatigue, Red Skin, Hot Fluses and Waves of Nausea are some of the commond side effects that I am now experiencing. The morning after just like the last time, my neck and face were as red as a baboons arse, as Lee has kindly put it. I didn't feel well; my stomache was churning and I didn't really feel like eating.

Second Chemo Prt 4
(added 3rd June 09)
Why am I picking at my food? I never pick at food. Picking at it a little more and trying different things that I had on my plate I realised that none of it tasted right. Why does it taste so funny? My head was spinning and I was starting to feel very drained and light headed.
Second Chemo Prt 3
Checking the overies it was revealed that i did have something on my right one. It was like having de-jar-vous.
Second Chemo Prt 2
Anne was right about it being easier the second time!
Second Chemo Prt 1
Before I can have my second lot of chemo I have to visit my oncologist and i am quite excited about going. You see I think the lump as actually shrunk and quite a bit too.
Chemo and Hair Prt 3
Your not serous” Lee laughed. “Yup” I said as I placed the cello taped hand onto my head and quickly pulled it off. . . .
Chemo and Hair Prt 2
Getting ready for work that morning; well trying to get ready more like. I had my make-up on and while styling my hair, I finished up in quite a mess.
Chemo and Hair Prt 1
Wouldn’t it be weird if it just went dryer and dryer turning me into a Worzel Gummidge look alike before it did fall out with the frizzy sticky out straw like hair.
First Chemo Effects
How did I cope with my first chemo? Well! I have to say very very well indeed. I was suprised by the way that I dealt with it and how it actually affected me..
